Tap Your Way Through a Classic Christmas Novel on NYPL’s Instagram

Issue 157 | December 21, 2018

Ask yourself: when was the last time you checked out a book from the library?

The New York Public Library has found a successful way to tap into a digital generation that isn’t as likely to browse the shelves of a public library. After seeing the popularity and success of Insta Novels, it decided to strategically release novels tied to timely holidays and events. Now, just in time for Christmas, it has released Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol as a way to commemorate the novel’s 175th anniversary.

The NYPL created a strategy that is not only engaging and interactive, but also leverages social media as an extension of the library itself. To brands that haven’t figured out how to make a splash on social yet, take note. Read more
